PREPARING FOR YOUR VISIT

Your initial visit to your therapist is to get to know each other and to get an idea of how to proceed with your treatments.

  • Set clear therapy goals for what you hope to achieve from your sessions.

  • Have realistic expectations of manageable goals, keeping in mind that medications may not be for everyone and that your treatment may only need therapy that requires a lot of work.

  •  Give yourself credit for seeking help with your mental health.  This is something that impacts people regardless of their status in life.  You are not alone.

  • Schedule a convenient time that you are positive that you can make it to your appointment without conflicts and will have the time needed for reflection should you need it.

  • Dress for comfort.  This will be a relaxed atmosphere so there is no pressure to dress up.  If casual attire works for you, go for it.
